LEFLORE â€” The Leflore Savages baseball team ended the week in fine fashion Thursday afternoon with a 11-1 rout of the Panola Bearcats.

Garett Ford, 17, of Hartford, Ark., has passionately been playing the game of golf for more than half his life. Each year, he has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with on the green.
With him, each step of the way has been his devoted family, father, Gary, and mother, Sharon â€” both giving 110 percent support to their son, and his love for the game. However, that changed this year.

Bessie Cooper, 100, of Spiro died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012. Donna Jean (Rogers) Shaw, 76, of Poteau died Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Oklahoma City after a lengthy illness.Â Donna was born June 20, 1936, in Tacoma, Wash. She was a devoted mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She always had a love for writing and for music.
A Spiro man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly bit and kicked officers.
Bryant Cooper, 22, of Spiro, was arrested on two counts of assault and batter on a police office, destruction of city property, disorderly conduct, driving under suspension and no insurance stemming following his arrest by Spiro Police Officer Theo Capes.
Cooper allegedly kicked at Capes after being placed in a patrol car and when officers tried to restrain his feet, he reportedly bit Spiro Officer Michael Draper.
An independent film released last weekend at the famed Toronto Film Festival has a tie to Poteau after a local business owner was given a speaking role.
Last summer Ryan Adams, with R.L. Sockey Construction, sent his photo to a casting agent to be an extra on a movie that was going to be doing some filming in Oklahoma.
