LEFLORE — Leflore Basketball Coach Todd Hackler said that Thursday night's home game with Red Oak was going to be a test for his Savages. While his team didn't get an A+, Hackler did give his team a passing grade.
The Savages never gave up, but in the end suffered a 60-51 defeat to the Eagles.
In the girls' game, the Lady Eagles were too much for the Lady Savages in a 64-22 victory.
LEFLORE — For Leflore Basketball Coach Todd Hackler, he will do something he has not done in quite a while — coach both boys and girls teams. But thanks to Assistant Coach Tony Marris, Leflore's baseball coach, Hackler believes that he can once again handle both duties.
From his Savage team's perspective, Hackler sees his team as a sleeping giant.
“I think we have a special group here,” said Hackler, whose boys' team is 1-1 so far on the young season. “We have a group that will be pretty solid.”
The Whitesboro Bulldog basketball players will have a different coach for the first time in quite a while. After being coached in fall and spring baseball by Bryan Cartwright, Cartwright stepped away from the boys basketball coaching job to take the reins of the Lady Bulldogs this hoop season.
That allowed for a homecoming of sorts for Wayne Tucker, who is a Talihina High School graduate who had been living in Edmond, as he is now the boys basketball coach this season.
