Arkoma basketball teams open season Tuesday against Gans

The Arkoma High School basketball teams will begin their new seasons Tuesday night at home against Gans. The girls' game will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the boys' contest at 8 p.m.

Pocola hoopsters to get new season going Tuesday night at Stigler

The Pocola High School basketball teams will tip off their 2011-12 seasons Tuesday night at Stigler. The girls will get things started at 6:30 p.m. as they face former Heavener Girls Coach Jeff Walker's new team, the Stigler Lady Panthers. That will be followed at 8 p.m. by the boys' game.

The Oklahoma State University 2011 Christmas Baseball Camps will be next month at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater.
The 2011 Cowboy Youth Christmas Camp Sessions for those who are in grades two through eight will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 10 for the first session, and the same time for the second session on Dec. 11. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. both days. The camp cost is $200.
The 2011 Cowboy High School Christmas Hitting Camp will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 17, while the Christmas Pitching Camp will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 18.

Foot pursuit ends on courthouse lawn

A short foot pursuit involving the Poteau Police Department resulted in the fleeing suspect being captured on the lawn of the LeFlore County Courthouse.
Charles Zumbwalt, 20, of Poteau, was arrested for resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and outstanding LeFlore County warrants .
According to the arrest report, Poteau Officers received information that Zumbwalt would be at the Finish Line convenience store in Poteau located across the street from the courthouse. An officer waited inside the store while others officers waited nearby.
