Pocola Indians fall in first home football game of season

POCOLA — After two road games to open the 2012 football season, the Pocola Indians were hoping to get a home win for the first time this year. The Quinton Savages had other ideas.
The visiting Savages came to John Carter Field on Friday night and left with a 30-14 win over the Indians.

Bokoshe Tigers suffer shutout in district football game at Sasakwa

SASAKWA — The Bokoshe Tigers had two rough home games to begin the season, and they were hoping their luck would change on a visiting football field. Unfortunately for the Tigers, it didn't.
The homestanding Sasakwa Vikings mercy ruled the Tigers 46-0 Friday night.

WARNER — The Panama Razorbacks football team gave it its all to try to get a road win, but it just wasn't in the cards as they lost 36-6 to the homestanding Warner Eagles Friday night.

SALLISAW — The Talihina Golden Tigers football team had a stiff test from the Class 4A sixth-rated Sallisaw Black Diamonds junior varsity Thursday night at Perry F. Lattimore Stadium. They used a conservative rushing attack to hold back the talented Black Diamonds to post a 28-17 victory.

Poteau freshmen, PKMS football teams complete sweep of Van Buren

After the Poteau Pirates varsity football team posted an 18-15 road win last weekend over the Van Buren (Ark.) Pointers, three more Poteau squads did likewise this week.
The Pirate freshmen remained undefeated with a 14-0 shutout of the Pointers Thursday night at Costner Stadium.
The week began on a high note for Poteau football as both Pansy Kidd Middle School teams beat Van Buren Tuesday at Costner Stadium. The eighth-grade Raiders got their first win of the season with a 24-8 victory over the Pointers, which came on the heels of the seventh-grade Raiders' 30-14 win.

Poteau girls beat Panama to win 2012 LeFlore County Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament; Wister takes third place

The seeding indeed held true as far as what two teams played for the 2012 LeFlore County Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament title Thursday night at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex, top-seeded Poteau and No. 2-seeded Panama.
For the second time on the night, and the third time this season, the Lady Pirates shut out the Lady Razorbacks 3-0 in the championship game — a contest ended after 5.5 innings due to rain.
