Harold E. Cox, 75, of Summerfield died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Summerfield.Â He was born Aug. 21, 1936, at Summerfield to John Christopher and Ora (White) Cox. He was a retired glazier from the construction industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife and mother of his children, Bonnie (Crusha) Cox; four brothers, Orb, Ivan, Dale and J.C. Cox Jr.; and a sister, Reba Loyd
A Pansy Kidd Middle School student has made a name for himself academically and his hard work paid off with an early admittance to a
quality university. Michael Womack, 13, of Poteau, completed the seventh grade in May. Before that accomplishment, he took the standard American College Test (ACT) and has since been recognized nationally for his scores. Michael took the test, as many high school students do, at Carl

After the Riverdawgs outlasted Three Rivers 7-6 in eight innings in the first game of Tuesday night's twinbill, the visitors from Wagoner held off the locals 7-5 in Game 2.
The 15th annual Poteau Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. June 25 at Wolf Ridge Golf Course. Lunch and check-in will begin at noon June 25. There will be an age 12-and-younger girls softball tournament June 23 at Cameron. The entry fee is $100 per team. First- through third-place teams will receive medals.
I finally had time to take my boat to Larry at Razorback Marine in Pocola, and he has it ready to go. I will be back on the water in the next week or so. Those bass had better look out because I am going to be after them now.
Since I havenâ€™t had a boat, I have been taking my boys and some of their friends pond hopping over the last couple of weeks. Koby, Cash, Reid Frasher, Kolton Lynn and Ethan Billings joined me on a couple of outings this week.
Mack D. â€śSkipperâ€ť Stout, 63, died Wednesday, June 6 at his home in Poteau. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
George Leon Brown, 80, of Spiro died Monday, June 11, 2012. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro.
Robert Sean Wheatley, 36 of Fort Smith, Ark., died Saturday, June 9, 2012. He was born Sept. 16, 1975, in Poteau. He was service technician for Air Conditioning Specialist.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Roberta Wheatley of Fort Smith, his sister, Tabitha House of Fort Smith, and his grandmother, Doris Ivan of Evansville, Ind.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
