Behind 16 points from Jaymere Hadden and great defense, the Carl Albert State College Vikings won 51-50 over the Seminole State College Trojans in an Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference Game Thursday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse.
In the opener, Oulaymatou Coulibaly's 20 points proved to be the difference for the Seminole State College Lady Belles in their 62-57 win over the Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings.
The good news was the Carl Albert State College softball team got its first win of the season Thursday afternoon in the first game of a home doubleheader against Crowder, Mo. The bad news was that a rough inning doomed the Lady Vikings in the nightcap.
After winning the opener 5-4, the Lady Vikings dropped Game 2 by a score of 13-6 to Crowder.
The Lady Vikings will play in the two-day Murray State College Festival, which began Friday and will end today.
The Most Valuable Player of these two games between the Poteau and Heavener soccer teams in Thursday night's scrimmages at Costner Stadium was the powerful north winds. At times the winds blew so hard it added some wicked English on shots that went across the field.
In the boys' game, with the air stream at their backs, the Pirates scored five second-half goals and won the game 5-0.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Growing up a Los Angeles Lakers fan, Thursday night’s game was kind of hard to watch. In one way, I couldn’t lose because I liked both teams. But then either way one of my teams was going to lose.
I first remember watching the Lakers play in the 1980 NBA Finals against the Philadelphia 76ers. Magic Johnson played all five positions on the floor that game as the Lakers pulled out the Game 6 victory, and secured the NBA Championship that year.
