On Wednesday the Poteau Chamber of Commerce issued a press release regarding the Christmas light display at Wister lake State Park. The press release stated that park officials had informed organizers that the staff would no longer help put up the display or help in any manner that might require manpower from any park employee.
On Thursday the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department responded to what tourism officials felt were allegations made towards them by the Poteau Chamber. Â
The Panama Razorbacks will get their first taste of game-like situations when they travel to scrimmage the Savanna Bulldogs at 6 p.m. tonight.
The main thing second-year Coach Brandon Ellis wants to see is improvement.
WILBURTON — The Arkoma Lady Mustangs got their first fast-pitch softball win of the 2012 season Tuesday afternoon with a 6-2 win over the Howe Lady Lions in the Robbers Cave Shootout.
The Lady Mustangs, however, lost their other three games over the first two days of the event. They lost after their win over Howe to Quinton by a 6-0 score. On Monday, they lost 7-2 to Porum and 12-0 to Weleetka.
For the Lady Lions, they lost all four of their pool play games over the first two days of action. On Tuesday, the Lady Lions fell 12-2 to Weleetka before falling to Arkoma.
I thought I'd devote the first part of this week's column to announcing the dates of the 2012 fantasy football leagues' drafts.

HEAVENER — A three-run third inning and the pitching of Kaylee Cox, plus withstanding a late Heavener rally, was enough for the Spiro Lady Bulldogs to edge the Lady Wolves 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon.

Broken Bow 12, Talihina 1: In Broken Bow, the Lady Golden Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Amber Robinson in the opening inning.

The biggest item on the agenda is looking at the linemen.
“We hope our offensive line will play well,” Spiro Coach Chris Bunch said. “We're making sure that they play assignment football and show that they can be aggressive.”
Our vacation is winding down, and I am, too. We have spent at least three days or nights driving 12 or more hours between locations, and have one more long drive to go. Right now, I am in Estes Park at a nice little cabin near the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. This place is awesome, and I will have some pictures of it next week.
