SALLISAW â€” The Poteau Lady Pirates golf team won Tuesday's Sallisaw Invitational with a team score of 354.
The Lady Pirates not only won team title, but they also had the top two individual golfer as Hannah Ward was top medalist with a score of 72 and teammate Addie Guthrie was second (86).
Cathleen Manlove and Paitton Callery each shot 98s, while Skylynn Terry carded a 101.
The Lady Pirates will return to the links at 9 a.m. Monday at the Class 4A State Preview at Lake Hefner South Course in Oklahoma City.
ALMA, Ark. â€” Both the Poteau Pirates and Lady Pirates track teams finished sixth at Tuesday afternoon's Airedale Senior Relays.
The Pirates scored 34 points, finishing behind champion Russellville, Ark. (176 points). Host Alma was runner-up (164 points), followed by three other Arkansas schools â€” Fort Smith Southside (102.5), Van Buren (47.5) and Magazine (35).
As for the Lady Pirates, they scored 51 points. Southside won the team title with 139 points, followed by Russellville (98), Van Buren (71.5), Magazine (61) and Mansfield, Ark. (61).
Carl Albert's softball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon against Western Oklahoma State College in Altus was rained out.
It has been rescheduled for noon Sunday in Altus.
The Lady Vikings will return to action today at 2 p.m. in a twinbill against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami, Okla.

The 2012 Hershey Track Meet will take place at 5 p.m. April 23 at Heavener's Harvey Stadium.
Two local golfers won top-medalist honors at Monday's Poteau Pirate Invitational, which took place at both Choctaw Country Club and Wolf Ridge Golf Course.
In the large school division, Poteau's Cody Shore took home top honors as he carded a 70-75â€”145 to win by seven shots.
â€śI knew Cody could do this,â€ť Poteau Coach Mike Thomas said. â€śHe's just had problems with finishing the last two or three holes, but he didn't do that on Monday as he shot a 70 up on Wolf Ridge in the first round.â€ť
Not too long ago, I attended a public opinion meeting regarding baiting in Oklahoma Wildlife Management Areas. While at the meeting we were told by Jody Hemphill that â€śmost of the peopleâ€ť who commented on the issue were â€śagainstâ€ť stopping baiting in the WMAs, we were also told that the problems were happening in WMAs out in the western part of the state, not here in the east. Specifically, hunters were placing bait in WMAs, and ,when they came back to hunt, another hunter would be set up over the bait. This caused physical and verbal disputes between the hunters.

The Poteau Pirates split their home three-way Monday at Town Creek Park, blasting the Idabel Warriors 12-2 but falling 8-7 to the Sallisaw Black Diamonds.
In the win over the Warriors, the Pirates jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the opening inning as Poteau sent 16 batters to the plate.
In the loss to the Black Diamonds, Sallisaw's Derek Nation hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to break a 7-7 tie to lift the visitors from Sequoyah County to victory.
The Pirates tied the game in the fifth inning at 7-7 on an RBI single by Didway and an RBI double by Stephen Smith.
ARKOMA â€” Arkoma Coach Mark Weatherton had a scheduling quirk this week with his Mustangs facing five games. He had to rest a few of his starters and save them for games later this week. The Ponies ended up taking a 20-3 drubbing by the hands of the Panama Razorbacks Monday afternoon.
