Anna Marie Darneal, 75, of Bokoshe died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial in Old Bokoshe Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Patricia Ann Foster-Stewart

Patricia Stewart, 71, of Wister died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at her home.

She was born Jan. 11, 1943, in Granite to Lloyd Palmer and Juanita (McKenzie) Foster. She was a legal secretary.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents.

Thomas Ralph “Tom” Shoup

Thomas Ralph “Tom” Shoup, 73, of Cameron died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark.

Tom was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Cameron to Ralph and Nina May (Murray) Shoup. He was a retired purchasing manager at Sparks Hospital. Tom was a member of the Mosholatubbee Lodge 13 for more than 53 years. He was General Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He received a Bachelor of Science at Oklahoma State University in 1963.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Howard Ray Goins

Howard Ray Goins, 76, of Panama died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, in Poteau.

Howard was born May 9, 1938, in Panama to Otto and Ola Mae (Sherfield) Goins. He was a heavy equipment operator. Howard was a hard worker, a proud Navy veteran and a friend to everyone. He never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda Goins; granddaughter, RaeLena Shelton; special son-in-law, Randy Shelton; siblings, Levenia Newel, Orville Goins, Linda Goins, Ethelene Covey and Pauline Cox.

Emma Lois (Harris) Marler

Emma Marler, 86, of Wister died November 10, 2014. She was born Nov. 25, 1927, in Wilburton to Leland and Anna (Dameron) Harris. Emma was married to William P. “Bill” Marler on Nov. 3, 1947 in Van Buren, Ark. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and three brothers, George, Ira and Johnny Ray Harris.

Panama football seniors look for second-round playoff appearance; Hogs travel to meet Chandler Lions in Class 2A opening-round postseason contest Friday night

The Panama Razorbacks are prepping for their third straight Class 2A playoff appearance this week as the Hogs will travel to meet the Chandler Lions at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
In each of the first two seasons, the Razorbacks have exited in the opening round. They hope the third time is the charm, and the Hogs will be playing in the second round of the playoffs next week.

No. 2 Talihina welcomes Quapaw to town to begin playoffs Friday

The Talihina Golden Tigers, who are ranked second in the final Class A Poll of the season, made it to the state semifinals a season ago. They hope to go farther this postseason.
The Golden Tigers (9-0) will begin their Class A playoff run against the Quapaw Wildcats (5-5) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Doc Robinson Stadium.

Third-grade Bandits beat Fort Smith Catholic on Saturday to win Bandit Bowl title

VAN BUREN, Ark. — Last weekend, a third football team brought home a Bandit Bowl title. The third-grade Bi-State Bandit League team avenged its only loss of the season, beating Fort Smith [Ark.] Catholic 12-8 to win the Bandit Bowl title.

Red-White basketball scrimmages set Thursday at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse

Poteau High School and Pansy Kidd Middle School basketball fans can get a sneak peak of what their teams will be like this season Thursday at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse.
The Red-White basketball scrimmages will begin at 5:30 p.m., featuring the PKMS seventh- and eighth-grade teams, the Poteau freshmen and the PHS varsity teams.
Admission is $2 or canned food. Any canned goods collected Thursday will be donated to the Poteau Community Thanksgiving Dinner.
