Early voting in Oklahomaâ€™s statewide primary election closed Saturday [June 21] and candidates are ramping up their campaigns in preparation of tomorrow's [June 24] day at the polls.
Polling places throughout the county will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
LeFlore County Democrats will vote in at least four races â€” county assessor, state superintendent of public instruction, U.S. senator (to fill Tom Coburnâ€™s unexpired term), and District 2 U.S. representative. In parts of the county, Democrats also will vote for District 3 county commissioner and District 1 state representative.
Two men were injured at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning after the car they were in left the road and struck the Santa Fe Trail Rail Road.
The accident happened at the Kerr Mansion and old U.S. Highway 271 intersection near Poteau.
The driver was thrown from the car and flown by medical helicopter to an Arkansas hospital.
The passenger also was injured and was taken by LeFlore County EMS to a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
A couple of seasons ago, Josh Fields was coaching the Talihina girls softball team and was an assistant girls basketball coach. However, he had not gotten all the necessary certifications, so he had to go get them.
Now that he has, Fields is back in the coaching realm once more, and this time with a new team. Fields is the new Whitesboro Lady Bulldogs basketball coach, taking over for Bryan Cartwright who coached them the last two seasons.
â€śIt feels great to be back coaching,â€ť Fields said. â€śIt made me realize how much I loved it after not coaching for a year.â€ť

The Wolf Ridge Junior Golf Clinic will take place the next two Wednesday afternoons at Wolf Ridge Country Club.
The clinic is open to youth ages 5 and older. The clinic for ages 5 to 17 will be from 4 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday for the next four weeks. Cost is $10 per golfer per session.
The clinic for ages 18 and older will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday for four weeks. Cost is $20 per golfer per session.

Bronx Easton Lovell of Fort Smith, Ark., was born and passed away June 18, 2014, in Fort Smith.
Services held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.
