BREAKING NEWS: Police respond to rollover accident

Police are responding [Sept. 3 12:11 p.m.] to a rollover accident west of Sunset Corner at the U.S. Highway 59 and Oklahoma Highway 9 intersection.
Spiro Fire and Rescue, LeFlore County EMS also are responding.

Jodie Hill steals place in record books

September 3, 2015

Monday night, Heavener senior shortstop Jodie Hill tied the Oklahoma high school stolen base record at 235. Tuesday night she broke it as she stole a base in the first inning of Tuesday night’s LeFlore County Tournament winner’s-bracket semifinal against Panama to give her sole possession of the state stolen base record at 236. She later stole base No. 237 as Heavener defeated Panama 6-2.

35.5 million Americans to travel Labor Day weekend – the most since 2008

About 3,000 more Oklahomans will travel over the upcoming Labor day holiday weekend this year, AAA predicts, a 0.7 percent jump over last year. The number of Oklahomans expected to travel by motor vehicle, 348,000, and those predicted to fly to holiday destinations, 32,600, are both 0.9 percent increases over Labor Day, 2014. 
 

County tournament a historic one for Heavener senior shortstop

It's LeFlore County Fast-Pitch Softball Tournament Week, and it will be one for the record books for Heavener senior shortstop Jodie Hill.
Hill tied the Oklahoma state record of 235 with a steal of second base in the fifth inning of Monday night's winner's-bracket quarterfinal game against Poteau. The national record is 246.
