Although Oklahoma is finally getting some rain, it does not mean the drought is over. But it does mean pests are still seeking places to lodge, feed and drink. You can discourage those uninvited guests from making themselves at home in your house by making your space downright inhospitable.
The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board denied clemency for James L. DeRosa, 36, Friday morning with a 3-2 vote during a special meeting in Oklahoma City.
DeRosa was sentenced to death in the murders of Curtis and Gloria Plummer. 
The Plummers were found dead inside their home in October 2000, stabbed multiple times and with their throats cuts.
An investigation into the murders hastened along after accomplice Scotty White, now 29, informed a school counselor he knew who murdered the Plummers.
White named Derosa and John Eric Castleberry, now 39.

Sentence has been handed down by District Judge Jon Sullivan for a Bokoshe murderer.
Sullivan sentenced Kevin Paul Statham, 51, to two life sentences without the possibility of parole Thursday morning. The sentences will run consecutively resulting in a 90 year prison term.
Statham was charged in the July 2011, shooting deaths of his parents, Paul Statham, 70, and Helen Statham, 69, at their home on Old Bokoshe Road. Both died from gunshot wounds, according to court records.
Poteau Pound Pups will hold a public informational meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, at the Coffee Cup in Poteau.
Spokeswoman Angela Meek said the organization is seeking volunteers, pet "foster parents" and donations.

The Army Corps of Engineers announced Tuesday that area campgrounds that are maintained by the department will remain closes for the 2013 season.
Camp sites at Short Mountain Cove, Applegate Cove, Cowlington and Dam site day-area will not be open for use this year.
The Corps blames the closures on recent budget cuts that leave a financial shortfall resulting in the department not being able to hire contract employees to maintain the campgrounds. Officials are unsure how long the monetary restraints will remain in place.

KI BOIS Community Action will join Community Action Agencies across the country in hosting events and activities throughout May aimed at highlighting poverty problems and solutions. Due to the uncertain economic climate – still reeling from the Great Recession and high unemployment rates – Community Action Agencies feel it is critical to focus local, state and national attention and efforts on helping our most vulnerable population.
Kevin Paul Statham, 51, of Bokoshe, was charged in the July 2011 shooting deaths of his parents, Paul,Statham, 70, and Helen Statham, 69. at their home on Old Bokoshe Road.
According to information released by the OSBI and LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department a family member went to the Statham's home and found Helen Statham dead in the back yard. Paul Statham, also deceased, was found inside the home. Both had died from gunshot wounds, according to court records.
In May 2012, District Attorney Jeff Smith filed notice seeking the death penalty against Statham.

The inaugural Tornado Alley Poker Run will be held June 15.
Proceeds will benefit LeFlore County Youth Services.
Registration for the run, hosted by The Lounge at Strike-A-Lot Lanes, will begin at 11 a.m. with last bike out at 11:30 a.m. and last in by 6 p.m.
The event will include food, music, 50/50 drawing and door prizes. Wary Pony will make its debut at The Lounge at 8 p.m.

A Keota man who took on the challenge of the Cavanal Killer on Saturday touched more hearts than he knew as his determination impressed several people.
Clinton Allen, 43, of Keota began walking a few months ago in an attempt to lose weight and regain his health. Little did he know when he began, he would trek the five miles in a race up the highest hill.
May 13th
Marvin McKee, of Blackfork, Ark., was the winner of the shotgun raffle at the May 5 fundraiser for the Haw Creek Fire Association. The association said the fundraiser was a success and expressed thanks to LeFlore County Pawn and Gun in Heavener for help in obtaining the shotgun.
