Reports of several homes that were flooded during flash flooding Tuesday night as well as damage to roads and bridges left authorities breathing a sigh of relief. When reports of flooding first began at approximately 8:30 it was feared that several people could have been washed away or injured.
That was not the case.
Crews with several fire departments and law enforcement agencies as well as LeFlore County EMS and Emergency Management worked tirelessly to assist the public and handle the situation.
LeFlore County Emergency Management, EMS, the LeFlore County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies are in the south part of the county assisting a number of people stranded by flood waters.
Reports that massive flooding between Cedar Lake and Big Cedar as well as in the Wister area have washed away camping trailers and vehicles. There have been a number of swift water rescues since approximately 8 p.m.
This following a flood warning issued earlier by the National Weather Service.
