A narcotics scam went
south after a local pharmacist
found out that the man the
medications were prescribed
to was being treated at a
Norman hospital and wasn’t
receiving the medications.
Shannongail Diane
Rutledge, 59, of McCurtain,
was recently charged with
three counts of obtaining a
controlled dangerous substance
by forgery or fraud
and one count of obtaining
cash or merchandise by
bogus check after she used
an allegedly forged check to
pick up a prescription for a
man she claimed was her
father.
This year’s Kiamichi Outdoor
Sportsman’s Festival is September 9 and
10.
The festival begins on Friday,
September 9 at 1 p.m. with a four man
scramble golf tournament at Choctaw
Country Club. Entry fee for the tournament
is $200 per team, and Poteau Main
Street is still looking for hole sponsors.
After the tournament, from 7 p.m. until 9
p.m. there will be live music and vendors
on Dewey Avenue in downtown Poteau.
The following day, September 10,
begins at “first safe light” with a bass
fishing tournament at Quarry Island on
Wister Lake. Buy-in is $40 per head and
ALL THAT BLING — The Wister Wildcats baseball team don their Class 2A State
Tournament championship rings they won last May. The players were awarded
their state rings in a ceremony Wednesday morning at the Wister High School
Gym.
