An Arkoma football player is behind bars Thursday
morning for second degree rape charges after a victim
came forward and filed a complaint against him.
Tyler Sweeten, 18, of Arkoma, was arrested on
Wednesday after the minor victim in the alleged crime
reported the incident to LeFlore County District
Attorney’s investigators.
According to court documents, the alleged crime
against the minor victim happened while on school
property.
Thursday afternoon, Sweeten appeared in front of
Special Jeff Judge Singer at 1:30 p.m. for a bond hearing.

October 8 at the Panama
softball fields. entry fee is
$100 per team. The tournament
will consist of
teams of seven men and
three women using 44 core
balls. Senior league and
Ultra 2 bats are prohibited.
There is a three home run
limit, home runs scored
after the limit will be
counted as singles. There
will be a home run derby
at noon.
Proceeds from the tournament
will be used to
fund a memorial scholarship
in the names of
The Rotary Club of Poteau was honored to have Senator Mark Allen as the guest
speaker for their September 14th meeting. The Senator shared his passion for serving our part of the state. He stated the people of southeast Oklahoma put him in office and it is their interest he will always look out for. The Poteau Rotary Club meets Wednesdays, at noon, in the second story dining room of EOMC.

Corgill’s Yamaha at 2010
North Broadway in Poteau.
Sign in starts at 8 p.m. and
departures begin at 9 p.m.
All motorcycles, cars, and
trucks are welcome, so
long as they can maintain
highway speeds. The entry
fee is $20 per driver plus
$5 for every passenger.
The route for this year’s
Bug Run will start at
Corgill’s Yamaha in Poteau
and continue on to
Heavener before going
through Wister and returning
to Corgill’s Yamaha.
Alcohol, drugs, and bad
attitudes are not permitted
