A jury of seven women and five men were sequestered Friday evening at approximately 5:30 p.m. after the conclusion of a murder trial involving defendant Aaron Ray Wesley Hinson who was accused of the murder of a three month old infant.
At 9:25 p.m. the jury rendered their verdict, finding Hinson guilty of first degree murder involving a child. The jury rendered a guilty plea with a recommended sentence of life.

Caden Place is the two-year-old of Jarrod and Rachel Place of Heavener. On January 30 he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He is now at St Francis receiving treatment. First Baptist Church in Heavener is hosting a Indian Taco dinner on March 4 to help with the expenses. On April 14 the Heavener Fire Department with the help of the Heavener and Poteau Masonic Lodges are putting on their fourth Annual Heavener Benefit Texas Hold'em Tournament. This year the proceeds from that event will be used to help the Place family.
