Former Pocola Police Chief Dale Fout filed a civil lawsuit against the Town of Pocola Thursday citing wrongful termination.
Fout, who claims to have been in a contractual employment agreement claims to have been wrongfully terminated after he filed a discrimination lawsuit against the town.
Fout is seeking judgment in the amount of $75,000 from the town and trustees Gaylon Freeman, Jewel Clark and Preston Carter.
A Talihina woman was charged with first degree burglary after she allegedly entered a home and took money.
Kacie Danielle Curnutt, 27, of Talihina, is accused of entering a home while it was occupied and taking money out of Ashley Grammar's wallet.
A juvenile at the home told police she hid outside when Curnutt went inside uninvited because she was scared of her.
A warrant has been issued for Curnutt.
August 30th
The Oklahoma State Department of Education has released the 2011 ACT scores for 13 LeFlore County high schools.
In LeFlore County, 346 graduating seniors took the ACT, a standardized test that measures high school achievement used in college admissions.
The test consists of four sections, English, mathematics, reading comprehension, and science, which are graded from one to 36 and then averaged to give each student a composite score.

Two brothers accused of murdering a Fort Smith woman pleaded not guilty to first degree murder charges before special judge Jeff Singer in a Poteau courtroom Thursday afternoon.
The brothers are accused of killing 22-year-old Brianna Ault and dumping her body in a pond near Pocola in September 2010.
Sources inside the LeFlore County Courthouse report that Elvis and Jonathan Thacker are to be arraigned today at the LeFlore County Courthouse in Poteau.
The brothers are both suspects in multiple violent crimes in Arkansas and Oklahoma, including the murder of Briana Ault in September of 2010.

There will be a new LeFlore County sheriff. In Tuesday night's election, the incumbent sheriff, Bruce Curnutt, was defeated by Rob Seale 2,605 votes to 2,135 — a different of 470 votes — in the runoff for the Democratic candidate for LeFlore County sheriff after all 37 county precincts reported in Tuesday night.
There were two other county elections, both for U.S. Congressional seats in District 2. In the Republican race, George Faught nipped Matt Mullin, 411 votes to 384. Rob Wallace won the Democratic seat vote in District 2 as he defeated Wayne Herriman 2,682 votes to 1,966.
Tonight is the first night of the JumpStart Family Literacy Program at Buckley Public Library. Starting at 5:30 p.m., the program will feature food, fun, and lots of books in celebration of Grandparents Day, September 9. Literacy Council Board Member Deborah Cummings has been scheduled as a guest reader for the night, and as an activity, the group will be making Grandparent's Day cards. The program is free and available to children up to 11 years of age and their parents or guardians.

The San Antonio based band The KLO:CKS took the stage at 8 p.m. Friday evening as part of the summer concert series "Under the Stars" held at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center Amphitheater.
The band filled the night air with rock and country tunes from all decades and it didn't take long before several people, young and old,had taken to the dance floor.
The Oklahoma band Ricochet is scheduled to perform in September as the closing event of the summer concert series.
During the regular meeting of the county commissioners a proclamation was singed declaring Sept. 5 as LeFlore County 911 Day.
The proclamation is in honor of the department's tenth anniversary. According to Randy Tolbert, director of 911, the department will host an open house on Sept. 5 open to the public. During the open house attendees will learn about the facility and the services they provide.
