November 7th
A Heavener man is listed in stable condition at an area hospital following a Tuesday night accident.
According to the accident report completed by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Buddy Vaughn, 28, of Heavener, was traveling north on Oklahoma Highway 112 one mile north of Poteau Tuesday night when the accident occurred.
The report shows Sophia Pearson, 47, of Poteau, was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer on a private driveway. She pulled onto the highway and struck Vaugn who was driving a 2003 Honda motorcycle.

If Poteau pre-K students swayed the election, President Obama would be in office another four years.
Ms. Skinner's pre-k class held a mock election Tuesday, with President Obama winning 15 votes to 4.
But ... if the second grade students at Poteau Primary School spoke for the country, Mitt Romney would become the next president of the United States.Â
All second grade students voted in their own mock election Tuesday.Â
In the past week students have been learning about the election process and what it means to vote.Â
Voter turnout in LeFlore County for the General Election appeared to be "pretty heavy," county Election Board spokesperson said Tuesday afternoon.
No problems were reported at any of the county's polling places.
Approximately 1,740 people cast in-person absentee ballots at the Election Board on Friday, Saturday and Monday.
Almost 500 absentee ballots were cast by mail, the spokesperson said.

Voters were greeted by LeFlore County Election Board Secretary Phillip Zearley Monday as they submitted their voter identification card or Oklahoma driver's license so they could cast their early vote in Tuesday's General Election.
According to Zearley, this years turn-out has been the largest he has seen in years.
Pocola Police have confirmed the body of Pocola missing woman Ruby Poole, 74, was found Saturday.
According to Pocola Chief of Police Steve Howard, Poole's body was found near Wells Creek Bridge on State Highway 112.
Howard said there doesn't appear to be any foul play involved in Poole's death but her body has been sent to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Officer to determine the official cause of death.

A Fort Coffee woman is suing
the community volunteer fire
department for what she contends
is negligence that led to fire consuming
her home.
Ester Clayton, 82, of Fort Coffee
filed a civil lawsuit against the
Fort Coffee Fire Department on
Thursday, asking for more than
$10,000 in damages to her home
which resulted from an earlier
controlled burn started by the fire
department on March 3.
According to the petition,
Clayton contends that the fire
department burned an abandoned
mobile home located next to
Clayton’s home at 18290 First St.

Page Simpson of Panama was one of the costume contest winners at the Trail of Treats and Thrills held Saturday at Wister Lake State Park.
