A two day trial ended Tuesday afternoon when the jury returned a guilty verdict against John Thomas Akin for robbery.
Akin was found guilty of entering the El Soliceto store in Heavener in April 2012 and robbing the clerk at gun point.
The jury deliberated for less than 30 minutes before returning it's verdict. The jury suggested a life sentence.
Assistant District Attorney Margaret Nicholson prosecuted the case. Akin was defended by Poteau attorney Doug Schmuck.
Akin will be sentenced at a later date.
The Poteau Board of Education tackled several current social issues at Monday night's meeting.
Members agreed to develop a written policy that clearly acceptable social media behavior for district employees, especially concerning online contact with students.
They also agreed to become part of a research project with the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to identify young pupils with autistic tendencies and develop ways to serve those children better.

According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Oklahoma Highway Patrol officers reported slick and hazardous conditions, especially to the south end of the county.
