PHS Drama Dept. to produce student one act plays

Friday at 7 p.m. at the Bob Lee Kidd Civic Center in Poteau the Poteau High School Drama Department and Thespian Troupe #3283 will present three one act plays written and directed by PHS students. Admission for the show is $3.

Names released of Spiro burn victims

January 24, 2013

LeFlore County Sheriff's Department released the name of two burn victims involved in a Monday night house fire near Spiro.
According to LeFlore County Undersheriff Kendall Morgan, Myrtle Cooper, 47, and Elec Cusick, 39, were the two victims found unconscious outside a home on Stewart Loop.
The fire still is under investigation, according to Morgan, which is why the release of the names was delayed.

Area State Parks to offer hikes

January 24, 2013

Lake Wister State Park and Talimena State Park have joined together to promote a "heart healthy hiking" program for 2013.
A hike will be held each month alternating between the two parks. On February 9 a hike will be held at Talimena State Park and will be two to four miles in length. The hike will return to Lake Wister for a four mile hike March 9 starting at Wards Landing Campground. These hikes will begin at 1 p.m. Bottled water will be provided for all participants.
