Talihina school damaged in winter storm

December 13, 2013

Last weekend's icy storm caused moderate damage to the roof of the Talihina High School building, leaving a classroom ceiling caved in and unsafe conditions in two hallway restrooms.
"I'd been out over the weekend looking around, checking for damage," said Talihina Superintendent Jason Lockhart, "but the issues on the roof weren't visible from the ground. It wasn't until we went inside on Tuesday to check the heating and light systems that we discovered that the ceiling had caved in."
