NWS warns winter weather likely

Snow and sleet may return to the area in the coming days raising the risk of hazardous travel conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.
Light rain or drizzle was for forecast in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas Friday and Saturday, but the impact on roads was expected to be "light" — mainly slick spots on bridges, overpasses and untreated roadways, the NWS said Friday.

Murder trial stays on track

The trial date set for one of two brothers accused in the murder of 22-year-old Briana Ault in 2010 remains on schedule to begin in June.
Ault's body was found in a Pocola pond on Texas Road near the Oklahoma,Arkansas state border.

Traffic detoured after head on collision

January 31, 2014

Poteau Police are investigating a head-on collision that happened about 9:45 a.m. in Poteau near the Flanigan intersection on north Broadway.
According to police, a black car crossed the center line, struck a trailer being pulled by a pickup then struck a second car traveling behind the truck.
One person was taken by LeFlore County Emergency Medical Services to Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center.
