Science Museum Oklahoma to host 'Grossology' exhibition

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A new traveling exhibition will permit visitors to explore why the human body produces some oozy, crusty and stinky gunk.

The exhibit, called "Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body," opens Saturday at Science Museum Oklahoma.

Hosted by the Oklahoma Museum Network and funded by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, "Grossology" is a 2,500 square-foot exhibit based on the best-selling book of the same name by author Sylvia Branzei.

Tulsa airport adding nonstop flights to Tampa, L.A., Vegas

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa International Airport officials say nonstop flights to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Tampa Bay, Florida, are being added through Allegiant Air.

Before airport officials made the announcement Tuesday, the airport had nonstop flights to 16 cities.

The airline said in a news release Tuesday that it decided to add the services because of strong performances in the Tulsa airline market.

Oklahoma ranks low in latest national report on education

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The latest "Quality Counts" report ranks Oklahoma 48th among the 50 states and the District of Columbia in the quality of education it provides students.

The report issued Thursday focuses on educational outcomes while looking at academic achievement, school funding and the chance for success students have when they grow up.

Oklahoma received a D-plus, which placed it ahead of Mississippi, Nevada and New Mexico. Massachusetts led the nation with a B.

It's still not immediately clear even within the Obama administration whether rogue hackers or other governments disrupted North Korea's networks last month.

Obama administration officials are not providing any details about the proposal to give every American student two years of community college for free... no word on where the money would come to pay for it.

Murder charges dismissed against man in double slaying

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) — Pittsburg County prosecutors have dismissed two first-degree murder charges against a man in the 2010 shooting deaths of two men near Hartshorne.

District Attorney Farley Ward told the McAlester News-Capital (http://bit.ly/140LJJd ) Tuesday that he had no choice but to dismiss the charges against 34-year-old Scott Bornheim because witnesses had recanted their original statements to investigators.
