CLARIFICATION: Man shot in family dispute dies

August 14, 2014

Clarification
The Poteau Daily News posted on its website and Facebook page that shooting victim Doug Byrd had died after family members posted on social media Thursday afternoon that Byrd had passed, was "with God" and asked for time to grieve.
A family acquaintance, however, said Byrd remains on life support at a Tulsa hospital at this time.
Byrd, 21, formerly of Shady Point, was shot in the chest during an altercation with his stepfather over the weekend, according to law enforcement autorities.
