The Adult Learning Center GED graduation ceremonies will be tonight, June 16 at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center in Poteau. Around 36-37 graduates are expected to receive their GED.
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) â€” An Arkansas father and son who decided to fly to orientation at Oklahoma State University have survived a crash landing in a parking lot.
Forty-year-old Kenneth Caubble of Jonesboro was flying the 1973 Piper Arrow aircraft Wednesday morning when the engine trouble began at 2,000 feet. He landed the plane in a Jonesboro strip center before its wing hit a parking sign and tore off. The plane then hit a second pole and flipped before the aircraft caught fire.
Both Caubble and his son were able to walk away uninjured.
The Poteau Public Works Authority will hold a special meeting at 5:15 p.m. at the Poteau City Hall to discuss and approve the 2015-2016 budget and a utility rate increase for water, sewer and trash.
The meeting is at city hall located on 111 Peters St., Poteau.
June 10 at 2:10 p.m. â€”Â Poteau Police, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Emergency Medical Services and Fire and Rescue are headed to Oklahoma Highway 112 between Poteau and Cameron for a semi-trailer that has rolled over and one person is trapped.
Expect travel delays.
June 10 at 1:30 p.m. â€” Poteau Fire Department is battling a house fire on the corner of Wilburn and Hill Streets in Poteau.
The house is fully engulfed according to PDN Reported Amanda Corbin who is on scene.
Panama voters have less than four hours left to cast their ballot in the Panama Municipal Election ending at 7 p.m. today [June 9].
Five candidates are on the ballot after the April results were ruled illegal in District Court.
Catholic Charities is seeking donations for their food bank. The organization serves all churches in LeFlore County. For this month, a total of 376 meals were served, feeding 149 families. Foods needed include canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meats, peanut butter, jelly, crackers and rice. Central National Bank of Poteau is accepting donations at their business or you can call (918) 810-5123 for delivery or pickup information.

EUFAULA, Okla. (AP) â€” The bodies of two men who have been missing since they attended a music festival in Pryor two weeks ago have been found in a lake.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports 20-year-old Cody Parrick and 20-year-old Ben Barrar were found Sunday night inside a vehicle submerged at the Onapa boat ramp on Lake Eufaula (yoo-FAW'-luh) in McIntosh County.
Troopers say they responded to a call about a submerged car around 7:40 p.m.
The bodies have been taken to the state medical examiner's office.
