Lawsuit challenges Oklahoma law on abortion drugs

October 1, 2014

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A Tulsa medical clinic contends in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that an Oklahoma law set to take effect later this year further restricting the use of abortion-inducing drugs in the state is an unconstitutional violation of a woman's right to choose to end her pregnancy and should be declared void.

The petition was filed in Oklahoma County District Court on behalf of Reproductive Services, a clinic that provides both surgical and medication-induced abortions.

Another call for Superintendent Barresi to resign

September 26, 2014

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The president of the Oklahoma PTA has joined in calling for the resignation of state school Superintendent Janet Barresi.

Jeffery Corbett said Friday that Barresi "has continued to erode the relationship between the State Department of Education and the school boards, administrators, teachers and parents of Oklahoma's public schools."

Corbett's call comes a day after State Board of Education member Leo Baxter and Republican state Rep. Jason Smalley both called for Barresi to resign.
