The Poteau City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, August 4 at the Poteau City Hall at 111, Peters St., in Poteau, Oklahoma, for a regularly scheduled meeting.
On agenda will be the presentation of service pins to Larry Wann and Gary Billings, as well as several ordinance and annex changes, along with an update on the Kelly Lane trailers cleanup.
OKLAHOMA CITY â€“ Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Support Services (CSS) collected $362,470,719 on behalf of children and families between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014, a new collections record. That is an average of $993,070.46 per day in State Fiscal Year 2014.
â€śIt is impressive, and we are very proud to have reached this new record,â€ť said CSS Director Gary W. Dart. â€śBut for those for whom we have been unable to collect, we know it is not enough. We will continue our efforts until every child receives the court-ordered support he or she is entitled to.â€ť
Poteau Police,Choctaw Tribal and Oklahoma Highway Patrol currently are at the Choctaw Travel Plaza in Poteau after receiving information about a possible bomb.

The Pervasive Parenting Center is working with the Oklahoma Parents Center to host an Individualized Education Program training Thursday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m. at Carl Albert State College in Sallisaw.
Ginger Jaggers of the Oklahoma Parents Center will present the training. The event will last about three hours and cover issues involved with obtaining IEP and 504 goals.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) â€” Members of a new state agency charged with overseeing Oklahoma's system for compensating injured workers may have to vote again on several issues because of possible violations of a law requiring certain state meetings to be held in public, an attorney general's office spokesman said Friday.
Attorney General Scott Pruitt's office has fired an attorney assigned to the Workers' Compensation Commission and is reviewing previous actions by the three-member panel to determine if any other remedial action needs to be taken, said Pruitt spokesman Aaron Cooper.
Poteau Police are investigating [July 31 11:15 a.m.] a two car accident at the intersection of Grady and South Saddler. One of the vehicles is the Poteau City street sweeper.
