Traffic was delayed Friday [June 19] at about 3:30 p.m. as Rock Island Police, Pocola Police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigate a four-car accident near backbone mountain.
No other information is available at this time.
R&R Animal Chiropractic in Shady Point will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. today [June 12]. They are located on U.S. Highway 59.
Also Cavanal Tire and Auto will host a ribbon cutting today [June 12] at 11:30 a.m. at their new business across from Walls where G&G Tire previously was.
The Poteau Daily News and the Poteau Chamber of Commerce is hosting "Meet the Candidates" tonight [June 12] at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center in Poteau at 7 p.m.
Sixteen county, state and national candidates will take the stage during a public forum to answer questions about current issues.
The event is free and open to the public.

Carl Albert State College will hold their Regents Meeting today, June 10, at the college campus in Poteau, at 1:00 p.m.
On the agenda will be budget expenses, tuition and other mandatory fees, employee considerations and the audit.
The Poteau First United Methodist Church, Heavener Masonic Lodge No. 154 and the Poteau Masonic Lodge No. 46 are hosting a benefit Spaghetti Dinner and pic auction Sunday, June 15 at the church located at 109 S. Harper in Poteau.
Proceeds from the dinner will help with medical costs as Dana Lee battles cancer.
The dinner is from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is $6 per plate for adults and $4 for children 10 and under.
The Poteau Kiwanis Club's "Learn To Swim" program is open to children of all ages. Classes will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting June 10 and concluding June 27.
Classes will be one hour in length and will be held at 9, 10 and 11 a.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for LeFlore County until 12 p.m.
The storms, which currently are tracking east near Muskogee are resulting in severe thunderstorm warnings for areas currently being affected by the storms.
The line of severe weather stretches from the Oklahoma/Texas border north to the Kansas border.
