The LeFlore County Commissioners are scheduled to discuss Monday [April 21] adopting an order to provide a one-half of one percent county sales tax to benefit Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center. If approved they will discuss a resolution for a special election to let the voters decide.
The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at the commissioners meeting room at the LeFlore County Courthouse.
As Easter nears the annual trek by many to bear the cross of Jesus through LeFlore County was underway Thursday. On Friday [April 18], LeFlore County Sheriff's Department and LeFlore County Emergency Management employees carried the cross from Poteau to Heavener.
Kreg Haney and partner Kacie J. Deere were supported by family, friends and area business owners Friday morning [April 18] as they held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center as the newest member of the Poteau Chamber of Commerce.

The LeFlore County Historical Society will hold its monthly board meeting Thursday [April 17] at 5:15 p.m.
The meeting will be held in downtown Poteau at 313 Dewey Avenue in Poteau.
Tryouts for Carl Albert State Collegeâ€™s athletic teams are scheduled.
Menâ€™s basketball tryouts will take place today [April 15] at 1:30 p.m.
Womenâ€™s basketball is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, at 2:30 p.m. at the Mick Thompson Fitness Center on the Poteau campus.
Menâ€™s baseball is set for Tuesday, May 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the Carl Albert State College Baseball Field.
Womenâ€™s softball tryouts will be Tuesday, May 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the Carl Albert State College Softball Field.

The Carl Albert State College regents will meet today [April 14} at the Poteau campus.
Items on the agenda include discussion about tuition and meal rate increases and employment status of all employees.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Barbara Montgomery, 43, of Red Oak was killed Friday night in a four-car accident east of Fanshawe.
The accident report shows a 2012 Nissan driven by a Poteau woman east on U.S. Highway 270 failed to see another car stopped to make a left hand turn. When the driver of the Nissan took evasive action by entering the westbound lane she struck head on a 2005 Dodge that Montgomery was a passenger in, according to the accident report.
The Pocola Quarterback Club held a garage sale and participated in the Dodge test drive event Saturday raising $4,600 to help the school's football players attend training camps.
