August 14, 2014

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin says she supports the legalization of an oil derived from cannabis, but says she remains firmly opposed to legalizing all medical marijuana.

Fallin asked lawmakers Wednesday to support the legalization of cannabidiol, which is an oil derived from the marijuana plant. The oil can only be taken orally and is non-psychoactive. Research suggests it may be effective to treat toddlers with rare conditions that cause seizures and strokes.

BREAKING NEWS: One critically wounded in shooting

August 11, 2014

Police say 22-year-old Doug Byrd is recovering at a Tulsa hospital after being shot once Sunday night.
Byrd reportedly went to his former stepfather 50-year-old Mark Wiles' home on Reagan Street in Shady Point at about 11 p.m., according to police.
An argument between the two men escalated, according to police, and during a physical struggle, a gun in allegedly Wiles' possession discharged, striking Byrd in the torso.
