Benefit dinner to help area couple

The Poteau First United Methodist Church, Heavener Masonic Lodge No. 154 and the Poteau Masonic Lodge No. 46 are hosting a benefit Spaghetti Dinner and pic auction Sunday, June 15 at the church located at 109 S. Harper in Poteau.
Proceeds from the dinner will help with medical costs as Dana Lee battles cancer.
The dinner is from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is $6 per plate for adults and $4 for children 10 and under.

Kiwanis Learn To Swim program kicks off Tuesday

The Poteau Kiwanis Club's "Learn To Swim" program is open to children of all ages. Classes will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting June 10 and concluding June 27.
Classes will be one hour in length and will be held at 9, 10 and 11 a.m.

LeFlore County under severe thunderstorm watch

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for LeFlore County until 12 p.m.
The storms, which currently are tracking east near Muskogee are resulting in severe thunderstorm warnings for areas currently being affected by the storms.
The line of severe weather stretches from the Oklahoma/Texas border north to the Kansas border.

Attendees included Tom Murdock, Tidbits newspaper; Dani Montoya, doTerra Essential Oils; Karen Mills, Mark it Place; Shannon delaCruz, Poteau Chamber of Commerce; Kelly Kelley, U.S. Postal Service field sales representative; Bridget London, Poteau postmaster; Victoria and Jerry "Dub" Nolan, Dub's Detail; Sandy Ellis, Print By Design; and Doretha Tinnin, Melaleuca.
Kelley and London spoke to the group about the benefits of using Every Door Direct Mail.

Choctaw Nation Healthcare Blood Drive Scheduled for Wednesday

Each donor at the Choctaw Nation Healthcare blood drive with Oklahoma Blood Institute will receive two admissions to the Tulsa Zoo.

Anyone who is 16 years and older is urged to donate Wednesday, June 4, from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Blood donors can feel good, knowing they are saving lives of community members with their donations at the Choctaw Nation Healthcare blood drive.  Donors with Oklahoma Blood Institute exclusively provide blood needed by all patients in the Choctaw Nation Health Care System and some 150 others across the state.

Red Oak Youth Baseball to Hold Benefit Spagetti Dinner

Family, friends and Red Oak youth will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, June 8 from`11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Red Oak School Cafeteria.

The dinner will be donation only and will include an all-you-can-eat Spaghetti dinner, as well as homemade dessert.

Proceeds will benefit the Red Oak 12 and under Baseball team.

The Red Oak 12 and under ball team will be competing in the AA World Series in Gulf Shores, Ala., the first week of July.

Takeout will be available. Delivery will be available in Red Oak.
