One-vehicle accident happens south of Hodgen

July 30, 2014

HODGEN — A one-vehicle accident happened at the intersection of U.S. 59 and Holsom Valley Road.
There is one individual reported to be trapped inside the vehicle.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and LeFlore County Emergency Management Services are working the scene, which may later include Hodgen and/or Heavener fire departments to help with the rescue.
Travelers are urged to avoid this area until after lunchtime.

Heavy rains, flash floods forecast for county

According to the National Weather Service, showers with embedded isolated thunderstorms will continue to spread eastward into eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas today and continue into at least Thursday morning, with locally heavy rain and isolated flash flooding possible.
Widespread 1-3" of rain, with local amounts to 5", will fall through midday Thursday, especially along and on either side of the Interstate 40 corridor.
A Flash Flood Watch is now in effect from 1 p.m. today [July 30] to 1 p.m. Thursday, including the cities of Tulsa, Fort Smith, McAlester and Muskogee.

Early morning wreck injures 1 near Keota

A Greenwood, Ark., woman was injured in an early morning accident near Keota.
Malorie Alumbaugh, 28, was driving a 2003 Nissan at about 3:48 a.m. Tuesday when she lost control, according to the accident report.
Trooper Collins reported she was driving on a county road two miles east and one mile south of Keota. When Alumbaugh lost control her vehicle struck a ditch and rolled on half times coming to rest on its top.

Gov. Fallin demands answers on illegal immigration and Fort Sill facility holding unaccompanied minors

OKLAHOMA CITY – In a letter (attached) to President Barack Obama, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin today called on the president to end the “secrecy” surrounding the use of military facilities around the country to hold illegal immigrant minors. One of those facilities, Fort Sill, is located in Oklahoma.
 
Fallin called on Obama to formally confirm and explain reports that run contrary to the messages his administration has sent to the public. In her letter, Fallin wrote that:

Chances being sold to win AR-15 for Poteau Police Department family

Poteau Police will be selling 250 chances to win an AR-15 .223 caliber rifle. Chances are $20 each and the drawing will occur after all chances are purchased.
Proceeds will go to help Asst. Chief of Police Greg Russell and his wife Heather, who recently suffered a stroke, with medical expenses.

Trial opening over video of Oklahoma City bombing

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A Salt Lake City attorney is arguing in a lawsuit that the FBI has video of the Oklahoma City bombing that shows a second person was involved.

The case is at the heart of Jesse Trentadue's quest to explain his brother's mysterious jail cell death 19 years ago, which has rekindled long-dormant questions about whether others were involved in the deadly 1995 blast.
