The LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkoma Police Department served a narcotics search warrant on an Arkoma residence Tuesday seizing methamphetamines and items believed to be used in the manufacturing of narcotics. An investigation led law enforcement to obtain a search warrant for the residence on Schasley Street allegedly occupied by Anthony Clayton Henry, 29.

itizens have a right to demand of their County Commissioner some principles of management which reflect a trustworthy relationship between the County Commissioner and the citizens of LeFlore County.
The job of County Commissioner is much more than just repairing the roads. Managerial skills are required to balance budgets, prioritize projects, supervise employees, and yes, to provide cost efficient road maintenance to the citizens of District 2.
Poteau Public Works is replacing the water main on Witteville Road between North Broadway and Witteville Drive. Public Works supervisor Bo Bohannon recommends motorist use an alternate route if possible until the project is completed at the end of July.

Poteau Theatre is the site of today's Cash Mob. Poteau Theatre will be offering a Wednesday Matinee starting at 2 p.m.
Admission price is $5.
Poteau Theatre will be showing Snow White and The Huntsmen, Men In Black 3 and The Avengers.
Owners Jon and Amber Pickel have made great improvements this past year to insure that our area has the latest state of the art digital entertainment.
The Tower Drive-In has also gone digital.
Most people like to relax on vacation and for some that means taking a leisurely stroll through the woods and maybe spending the night in a tent. For others, that sort of weekend adventure is inadequate. For them, an adventure has to move them far outside of their comfort zone and push them to the limit. Chuck Lewis, Director of the Carl Albert State Physical Plant, is decidedly a member of the latter group.
June 1st
Officials with AES Shady Point have announced the resignation of the plant manager.
According to a press release issued by the company, Ruben Soroeta will be resigning his position to pursue new enterprises.
The company said that Soroeta, who has been the plant manager for a little more than four years, felt the decision to leave was one of the hardest he has had to make but felt that it was in the best interest of his family to do so.
May 31st
A convicted murderer who has appealed his double death sentence has again been denied a ruling in his favor.
James L. DeRosa, 35, was sentenced to death in the murders of Curtis and Gloria Plummer. 
The Plummers were found dead inside their home in October 2000, stabbed multiple times and with their throats cuts.
An investigation into the murders hastened along after accomplice Scotty White, 29, informed a school counselor he knew who murdered the Plummers.
White named Derosa and John Eric Castleberry, 39.
May 28th
The Poteau Fire Department responded to a structure fire Friday night at 10 p.m.
The abandoned home was destroyed by the flames.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.

A Spiro man is behind bars after he allegedly opened fire on an occupied dwelling Monday night.
Daryl Steele Jr., 20, of Spiro, was arrested after LeFlore County deputies found him hiding in the yard after the reported shooting.
