Truck swept from bridge due to high water

One person swam to safety today after their truck was swept from the crossing of Sugarloaf Creek near Monroe. The LeFlore County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident earlier.

LeFlore County Emergency Management posted a flood warning from the National Weather Service in Tulsa about the area.

Forecast flooding has increased from minor to moderate severity.

A flood warning continues for the Poteau River near Panama into late Sunday night. The river flooding is forecasted to continue rising to near 33.1 feet this evening and will fall below flood level late Sunday.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK 208 PM CDT FRI MAR 13 2015 ...The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Oklahoma... Poteau River near Panama affecting Le Flore County.

Poteau road closed due to flooding

Central Street in Poteau between Tarby and Possum Valley is closed due to the low water bridge being underwater. Please use caution in the area and use alternate routes. Forecasts show rain will continue into the night and possibly into the morning hours before the area will see dry weather.

1 dead in medical helicopter crash in eastern Oklahoma

EUFAULA, Okla. (AP) — An employee of a Kansas-based medical helicopter company was killed and two others were injured when their helicopter crashed in remote woods in eastern Oklahoma, authorities said Friday.

The crash was reported about 11:40 p.m. Thursday, according to McIntosh County Emergency Management Director Wesley Dawson, who said searchers on foot and all-terrain vehicles found the wreckage of the EagleMed LLC aircraft about 4 a.m. Friday. The U.S. Air Force assisted in locating the crash site west of Eufaula, about 120 miles east of Oklahoma City.
