House approves Rural Opportunity Zone Bill

OKLAHOMA CITY – A measure that would create Rural Opportunity Zones in counties across the state was approved by the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Firefighters respond to fire at Poteau restaurant

At about 10:15 a.m. [Thursday, Feb. 26] Poteau Fire Department responded to a fire at Blondie's restaurant on North Broadway in Poteau.
No flames could be seen from outside the building but several fire trucks were on scene.

US constitutional convention call set for Oklahoma hearing

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma could join a growing list of states calling for a convention to be held to amend the U.S. Constitution.

The Senate Rules Committee will consider a bill on Wednesday calling for a constitutional convention to be held to consider amendments to restrict the federal government's power and impose term limits for members of Congress.

Former U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn visited with House and Senate Republicans on Monday and urged them to pass the bill.

Man arrested after speeding away in sheriff deputy's cruiser

DOW, Okla. (AP) — Police say that a man who was hand-cuffed from behind drove away with a sheriff deputy's cruiser during a traffic stop.

The McAlester News-Capital (http://bit.ly/1LhRva6 ) reports that 33-year-old Temple Clancy was hand-cuffed and placed in the front passenger seat of Deputy Johnny Jenkins' cruiser while officers searched his car. Clancy gained control of the cruiser, and sped away.

Winter Advisory in effect until 6 p.m. Monday

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 p.m. this evening. The advisory affects LeFlore County, as well as the other following counties:

OKFUSKEE...OKMULGEE...PUSHMATAHA...CHOCTAW...
PITTSBURG...SEQUOYAH...MCINTOSH...MUSKOGEE...LE FLORE...LATIMER
AND HASKELL. IN ARKANSAS...CRAWFORD...SEBASTIAN AND FRANKLIN.

Snowfall causes closings in county

As snow blankets the county Sunday afternoon, roads are getting slicker and closures are being announced.
The LeFlore County Courthouse will be closed Monday.
Road conditions are expected to worsen as about 4 inches of snow are expected through Monday afternoon.

NWS issues weather advisory into Monday

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a winter weather advisory for several area counties, Le Flore County included.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST MONDAY.
