New child abuse indictment issued against Oklahoma man

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A new 24-count indictment has been issued against a 20-year-old Oklahoma man who is accused of sexually abusing children at a Kenya orphanage.

The indictment was returned against Matthew Lane Durham of Edmond, who federal prosecutors allege engaged in sex acts with as many as 10 children ages 4 to 10 while volunteering at the Upendo Children's Home near Nairobi from April to June 2014.

Prosecutors have also accused Durham of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with minors under 18 and aggravated sexual abuse of a child under 12.

Broken Arrow teen dies in single-car rollover wreck

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says speeding likely played a role in a single-car wreck that killed a 19-year-old who was riding as a passenger in the vehicle.

Officials say Tyler Avard of Broken Arrow died Monday in the Wagoner County rollover accident.

Troopers say the 17-year-old driver lost control of the car, which ran off the road. She then overcorrected, sending the car across the road and into a ditch. The state's highway patrol says the car rolled and landed in the roadway.

Oklahoma deputies seize nearly $5M worth of cocaine

EL RENO, Okla. (AP) — Central Oklahoma authorities say they seized a large amount of cocaine worth nearly $5 million during a traffic stop on Interstate 40.

The Canadian County sheriff's office says deputies pulled over a tractor-trailer carrying five vehicles after noticing the driver drift onto the shoulder several times on Sunday night.

Deputies searched the vehicles on the trailer and found more than 75 pounds of cocaine. They say they found the drugs in a false compartment built underneath the rear seats in one of the cars.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma inmate executed amid a legal challenge over lethal injection began complaining about the effects on his body before the drugs were administered, prompting some to question whether he may have exaggerated his symptoms to help his fellow death row inmates' case.

Charles Warner, who was executed Thursday for the killing of an 11-month-old girl in 1997, said during his last words: "It feels like acid." The comment came before any of the lethal drugs were administered and while he was only receiving a saline drip through an intravenous line.
