Wanda T. Rhodes, 87, of Sulphur, La., a native of Wister, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, in Sulphur.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss, La. Carolyn Sue King, 70, of Spiro died Thursday, June 13. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Billy Don Caldwell, 55, of Poteau died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, in Muskogee. Billy was born July 29, 1957, in Bokoshe to Raymond Earl and Velma Mae (Fields) Caldwell. He worked for LeFlore County District 1. Billy was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, National Guard and Naval Reserves. Billy was preceded in death by his father and best friend, Larry Hugle; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eugena and William Potter.
Rickey Alan Ford, 56, of Heavener died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, in Muskogee. Rick was born Aug. 12, 1956, in Poteau to Eual John and Patsy Ruth (Tucker) Ford. He and Betty Mead were married Feb. 23, 1979. He was deputy warden at Jim E. Hamilton Correctional Center since 2010. JEHCC is a minimum security facility with more than 700 offenders. He was overseer of the daily operations.

Tim “TimAtayo†Thompson, 19, of Spiro died Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Victory Worship Center. Burial will be in Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Rick Ford, 56, of Heavener died Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at First Baptist Church, Heavener, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.

Retired Lt. Col. Peggy Jean Frye, 72, of Pocola, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in Fort Smith, Ark. Peggy was born Nov. 16, 1940, in Yoestown, Ark. to Leonard and May Dell (Spradley) Gregory. Peggy was a member of Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church of Roland. Peggy graduated from Van Buren High School in 1959, Sparks School of Nursing R.N. Program in 1962 and completed her BSN in 1987 from Saint Joseph’s College. She retired as nursing coordinator at LeFlore County Health Department. Â

Louis Henry Carter Jr., 71, of Lake Kiowa, Texas, formerly of Poteau, died Monday, June 3, 2013.
A committal service with full military honors was held Friday, June 7, at Fairview Cemetery with a memorial following at Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Yeager officiating.Â
On Jan. 29, 1942, a boy was born in a small log cabin in Cameron. From that day, the lives of thousands would be touched over the next 71 years.

Johnny Lee Rodgers Sr., 74, of Keota died Friday, June 7, 2013. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Victory Worship Center under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.

Orel L. Sullivan, 83, of Heavener died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in Poteau. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Maxey Cemetery, Wister. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau.
