July 29th
Joseph Andrew Sanders, 71, of Shady Point died July
21, 2011, in Muldrow. Memorial Services will be held at
3 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the First Assembly of God
Church in Shady Point. Arrangements are under the direc-
tion of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
July 28th
Walter Charles âCottonâ Carmack, 84,
of Poteau died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in
Talihina.
Cotton was born in Poteau on Oct. 30,
1926, to Rube M. and Bertha (McClure)
Carmack. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Navy, serving as a SeaBee in World War II.
He was a retired teacher and also retired
from the state working as a health inspector
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Poteau.
Cotton was preceded in death by his wife, Aldean
Carmack and brother, Ed Gene Carmack.
Survivors include his daughters, Kay Carmack of
Poteau and Sharon Lea Carmack of Vian; son and daughter-
Geraldyne Hammons, 84, of Wister
died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in Wister.
Geraldyne was born in Wister on Oct. 15,
1926, to Joe Willis and Carrie (Estes)
Baldwin. She was a homemaker and a
member of Wister First United Methodist
Church. She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband Bill, and infant son
William Michael.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law,
Kathy and David Robertson and Karen and Steve Glinski
of Poteau; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Donna
Hammons of Wister: six grandchildren, Jolene, D.P., Bud,
Byrl Skinner, 78, of
Spiro died Tuesday, July
26, 2011. Services will be
held at 10 a.m., Saturday,
July 30, at the Mallory-
Martin Chapel in Spiro.
Arrangements are under
direction of Mallory-Martin
Funeral Home, Spiro.
July 27th
Patsy Ann Cauthron Chatterton, beloved
wife and mother, was born April 20, 1937,
in Hodgens.
Patsy grew up in Fanshawe and attended
primary and secondary school there.
Following marriage, she volunteered in
many church organizations as well as in
Girl Scouts for many years. In her spare
time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, housekeeping,
pet care and conversing with neighbors and
friends.
After many courageous years with surgeries, debilitating
neuropathy, lupus, diabetes and numerous other problems,
she departed this life on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at
Walter Charles âCottonâ Carmack, 84, of Poteau died
Tuesday, July 26, 2011, in Talihina. Services will be at 10
am, Friday, July 29, at Oakland Cemetery Pavilion with
The Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Interment will follow.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evans and Miller
Funeral Home of Poteau.
Katy Jean (Wann) Corn was born June
20, 1952, in Poteau to Clifton and Kathryn
Wann. She died July 23, 2011, at her home
in Howe. She was 59.
Katy married the love of her life. Elester
âRayâ Corn. on Oct. 11, 1975, and raised
their children in LeFlore County. Katy
lived her life serving and helping others
through childcare and home health until her
retirement. She was active with the Girl Scouts early in her
life and the Green Country Cloggers. She spent the last
years of her life enjoying her children and grandchildren.
Katy is survived by her children Roberta and Jimmy
Grethel Fox, 99, of Talihina died Saturday, July 23,
2011, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be held Wednesday,
July 27, 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Mark
Cook officiating. Burial will follow at the Talihina
Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Evelyn R. Goletto, 53, of Heavener died
Saturday, July 23, 2011, at her home.
Evelyn was born Jan. 31, 1958, in
Anderson, Ind., to Darrell and Ruby
(Milligan) Chinn. Evelyn graduated with
honors from the University of Arkansas at
Fort Smith with a BBA in accounting. She
worked as a revenue officer for the Internal
Revenue Service.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell
Chinn and Ruby Stephens.
Evelyn is survived by two sons, Craig Goletto of
Heavener and Larry Goletto of Texas; a brother, Winston
Johnson and his wife Deborah of Howe; mother-in-law,

Mary Sue Bacon, 103, of Talihina
died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the
Talihina Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday,
July 24, at the Talihina Church of
Christ with Phillip Smith officiating.
Burial will be at the Old Talihina
Cemetery under the direction of
Talihina Funeral Home.
