December 27th
Algra B. Tackett, 89, of Poteau died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, in Poteau.
Algra was born June 2, 1922, in Berlin, Okla., to Doc and Margaret (Clanton) Barfield. She was a homemaker. Algra was a restaurant owner. She was a member at Latham Assembly of God Church, a charter member of the Green Country Jamboree and a member of the Red Hat Society. Algra was preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Margaret (Clanton) Barfield; husband, Arlie H. Tackett; and sons, Richard and Stuart Tackett.

Eugene Wheeler, 92, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, in Durant. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29 at First Presbyterian Church in Durant. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the New Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Janice D. Tyler, 70, of Tuskahoma died Thursday, Dec. 22, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 at the Albion First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Kiamichi Pioneer Cemetery under the direction Talihina Funeral Home.
Harold McBride, 58, of Talihina died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at the New Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Robert Junior Lowery of Pocola died Friday Dec. 23, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark.
December 21st
Robert Oliver, 78, of Howe died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, ay his home. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Howe Cemetery. Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener is handling arrangements.
Robert Stephen Butler, 67, of Kansas City, M., formerly of Panama, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at his home. Robert was a Vietnam veteran. He retired after 31 years as a maintenance man for Georgia Pacific Box Co. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lori Bell Butler; four brothers, Benton Butler, Reuben Butler, Charles Butler and Bobby Butler.

Billy “Bill” Marion Jones, 74, of Poteau died Monday, Dec., 19, 2011 in Fort Smith, Ark. Bill was born Feb. 3, 1937, in Houston to Marion E. and Ruth (Spencer) Jones. Bill was a minister, pastor, missionary to Ivory Coast for 10 years, editor of “Heartbeat” missions magazine in Nashville, Tenn., President of Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College in Moore for eight years, Director of Oklahoma Missions for two years, served on the Foreign Mission Board for 26 years, professor of Theology at the college and Senior Adult pastor Poteau FWB Church.
Silas Russell Bryant Jr., 79, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011. He was born May 31, 1932, to Silas Russell, Sr. and Cleo (Stanley) Bryant in Tuskegee. Russell served in the U.S Navy during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Vicki Bryant, Kathleen McClain and Avious Benavidez; brothers, Dorford Bryant and Hershell Z. Bryant.

Thomas Edward Strock, 63, of Wister died Dec. 6, 2011, in Fort Smith, Ark. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, in Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
