Mildred Smith, 93, of Spiro died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012. A wake is planned from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial in Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark.
On Sept. 29, 2012, Helen Ione Stephens Cook, 93, formerly of Heavener, went peacefully in her sleep to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at her home in Sun City, Calif., where she had resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Trell Mercer, since July 2010.
One of seven children, she was born Sept. 7, 1919, to the late Elsie M. and William P. Stephens in Laramie, Wyo. Helen graduated from Laramie High School in 1935 and majored in music at Phillips University in Enid.
