Byg Guinn, 55, of Hodgen died Friday, Oct. 12, at Big Cedar. Services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Free Will Baptist Church in Big Cedar. Burial will be in Big Cedar Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener.
Henry R. Ivy, 72, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, in Greenwood, Ark. Henry was born Aug. 21, 1940, in Spiro to Charlie C. and Annie (Jenkins) Ivy. He was a factory worker.
Henry was preceded in death by Charlie, Annie (Jenkins), George, Laney, Marine, Edward, Sonny, Aline, and Margaret Ivy; three nephews, two nieces; and five sisters-in-law.
Funeral services for Paul Dale Hicks, 67, of Weatherford will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at the Nazarene Church with Todd Derbyshire officiating. Burial will take place at 4 p.m. at Maxey Cemetery in Wister under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home, Weatherford.
Paul was born on Sept. 24, 1945, to Homer Elton Hicks and Robbie Marie (Bullard) Hicks in Leflore County. Paul went to be with the Lord on Friday Oct. 12 at his home surrounded by his large loving family.
October 12th
Owen “Darrell” Harrison, 54, of Panama died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born Jan. 18, 1958 in Tulsa to Owen D. and Mary Louise (Pierce) Harrison.
He was a driver for Warren Cat. Darrell will be remembered most for his faith and love for his Lord Jesus Christ and the love he had for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by a sister Karen Francis.
Melvin Ray Roberts, 59, of Van Buren, Ark., died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, in Van Buren. He was born Oct. 4, 1953, in Poteau to Willie and Vera (Godwin) Roberts. He was a carpenter. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Weldon and Bob Roberts.Â
Jacob Ulmon Hollan, 22, of Konawa, formerly of the Summerfield / Reichert area, died Thursday, Oct. 12, at Konawa. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the Leflore School gymnasium. Burial will be in Summerfield Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home, Heavener.
LaVerne Ward, 78, of Poteau died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. LaVerne was born Dec. 27, 1933, in Haywood to Earnest Daniel and Mable L. (Pollard) Gray.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hezzy Ronald “Bo” Ward and sister, Earlene Brannon. She was a homemaker. LaVerne was a member of the Pleasant Valley Free Will Baptist Church for over 45 years. She loved gardening and reading. She loved her church and her family and fellowshipping with them all.

Rosanna Lee Wade, 34, of Hodgen died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 in Fort Smith, Ark. No services are planned. Cremation is under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home.
Donna Jean (Rogers) Shaw, 76, of Poteau died Sept. 13, 2012, in Oklahoma City. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau.
Joe David Jefferson, 72, od Red Oak died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, in Tulsa. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Dowden Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Hontubby Cemetery.
