Joseph Lean Laney, 72, of Cameron died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. No services are planned at this time. Cremation services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
Joyce A. Hooker, 72, of Stigler died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, in Stigler. No services are planned at this time. Cremation services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
Betty Lorene (Slape) Richard, 82, of Panama died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, in Panama.
October 2nd
William G. “Bill” Maddux, 88, of Stillwater, formerly of Leflore, died Sept. 29, 2012. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at First United Methodist Church in Stillwater. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
Jackie Carrol Ragains, 64, of Spiro died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Spiro.
Memorial services for James W. Lovelace and his mother, Arlene Davidson, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Greenhill Cemetery Pavilion, Cameron.
J.W., 52, a lifelong resident of Poteau, died Sunday, Sept. 30, in Poteau. Arlene, 71, also of Poteau, died Sept. 17.
Prior to his passing J.W. had been working in the oilfields of South Texas. Also preceding him in death were his stepfather, Wesley “Buck” Davidson, and grandparents, George William and Leona (Henry) Barrett.

Clarence “Peck” Underwood Jr., 83, of Talihina died Saturday. Sept. 29, 2012, at Oklahoma Veterans Center in Talihina.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Talihina First Baptist Church. Burial will be in New Talihina Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Naomi Knier, 52, of Hugoton, Kan., died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Odyssey Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.
J.R. Harp, 82, longtime Stigler area resident, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Fort Smith.
Norma Walden, 90, of Wister died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at her home. Norma was born Nov. 16, 1921, in Leflore to Sherman and Nellie (Harris) Dehart. She was a clerk at Wister Food Market.
Norma was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wister. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo; her grandson, Casey Branstetter; great-granddaughter, Skye Lee Amos; sister, Betty Brooks; and brothers-in-law, Roy Brooks and Wayne Powell.
