Raymond Jesse Akins, 83, of Keota died Sunday, April 22, 2012. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Cowlington Baptist Church. Burial will be in Spiro City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Maxine Hembree, 84, of Heavener died Monday, April 23, 2012. Maxine was born April 15, 1928, in Heavener to Edward and Elizabeth Hall. She was a graduate of DeQueen High School and attended Henderson State College. Maxine was a member of First United Methodist Church in Heavener, worked at State National Bank and was a Cub Scout den mother. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hembree.
George “G.H.” Morton, 87, of Panama died Sunday, April 22, 2012. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Panama First Baptist Church. Burial will be in old Bokoshe Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.
Billy Barron, 85, of Muse died Friday, April 20, 2012, at home. Services were held Monday, April 23, at Muse Baptist Church with burial in Muse Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Keith Steelman, 51, of Monroe died Saturday, April 21, 2012,, in Monroe. Keith was born Oct. 19, 1960, in Poteau to Clyde Sr. and Marie Davis Steelman. He was a truck driver. Keith was preceded in death by his father. He loved coon hunting.
Calvin Lee Thomas, 87, of Springdale, Ark., died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.Â
Calvin was born on Feb. 14, 1925, in Bokoshe, a son of William C. Thomas and Laura C. Wiles Thomas. He married Earlyne Pfeifer on Aug. 30, 1949, in Yuma, Ariz., who preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2008, after 59 years of marriage. Calvin lived and worked most of his life in California, working in the citrus industry and retiring as a foreman. He was a very dedicated family man and a member of the Church of Christ.
Jerald Leroy Fox, 68, of Poteau, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, in Poteau. Jerald was born in Poteau on Oct. 30, 1943, to Roy and Arley (Brand) Fox. Jerald was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Linda Rae Fox; and a son, Kevin Fox.
