Zaven Lynn Dmitri Johnson, infant son of Brandon and Samantha Jo Johnson, died Monday, May 21, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Zaven was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Opal and Durrel Morgan, James and Myrtis Hammond, Joann Johnson and Howard McCollom.
AlmaâPeggyâ Wilson, 84, of Talihina died Friday, May 18, 2012, in Pocola. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 21, at the Talihina Nazarene Church. Burial will be in Whitesboro Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.
Renner Maxine Pierce, 88, of Panama died Friday, May 18, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, at New Hope Cemetery, Spiro, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Eugene Allen Logan, 85 of Shady Point died Monday, May 21, 2012, in Poteau. Gene was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Wetumka to Kerb L. and Camie (Holton) Logan. Gene worked for Poteau food in the early part of his life and then was owner of Geneâs Food Market in Poteau during the 1960s and early â70s. He worked for Holtonâs Supermarket and retired. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Jackie Wayne Dinger, 70, of De Queen, Ark., died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1941, in De Queen. He was retired from the U.S. Army.
 Dinger was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Eula Smith Dinger; two brothers, Frank Dinger and Bobby Dinger; and two sisters, Peggy Deer and Evelyn Hill.
William âBillyâ Ray McClary, 53, of Panama died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in Tulsa.
Billy was born Nov. 21, 1958, in Altus to William Paul and Myrna Joyce Sutton McClary.
Billy was a member of the First Step of Faith Church in Poteau. He loved old cars and motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Joy of the home; mother, Myrna Joyce (McClary) Kinney of Panama; an aunt, Delores âDodyâ Stewart of Panama; several cousins and many friends
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, at Mallory-Martin Chapel of Spiro with Rev. Leon Glenn officiating.
Lula Mae Myers, 94, of Poteau died Friday, May 18, 2012, in Poteau.
Lula ws born July 31, 1917, to Clarence and Nellie (Pate) Shrum in Hartford, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Myers; son, Jackie Neal Myers; and grandson, Ricky Neal Myers; her parents, three brothers and one sister.Â
Lula was an elementary teacher for 30 years, pianist, teacher and Vacation Bible School Director at church, a member of the Poteau Church of the Nazarene. She was an active participant of Compassionate Ministries through music at the Oaks Healthcare Center.Â
Shane Derrick âDocâ Owens, 30, formerly of Shady Point died Thursday, May 10, 2012, in Orlando, Fla.
Shane was born Dec. 3, 1981, in Hyden, Ky.Â
He was a paramedic in Orlando, an Iraq war veteran and a medic in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Paige Breanne Underwood, 16, of Shady Point died Thursday, May 17, 2012, in Calhoun as a result of an auto accident. Paige was born Oct. 3, 1995, in Tupelo, Miss., to Jerry Jr. and Melissa K. (Bradley) Underwood. She was a student at Poteau High School; a National Honor Society Student, Secretary of the FFA and on the varsity Soccer Team. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmothers, Brenda Underwood and Harriett June Holcomb.
