Thomas Earl Graham died at his home in El Reno on Thursday, June 7, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, in Veterans National Cemetery in Houston.
Thomas was born Aug. 18, 1929 in Tulsa. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Marine Corps. He lived in Poteau for 20 years, Anchorage, Alaska, for 20 years, and in various places in Oklahoma and Texas for 43 years. He retired as a superintendent with BP Oil. Thomas was very artistic, drawing, painting and making wood carvings. He also was a gold mining enthusiast.
Dave J. Monks, 86, of Panama died Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Poteau. Dave was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Tahona to Dave Sr. and Minnie H. (Robinson) Monks. He was a homebuilder. He was of the Baptist faith. Dave was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. He served in the China-Burma Theater in Troop A of the 124th Cavalry Regiment which was part of the MARS Task Force during 1943-45. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge.Â
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred Monks and W.C. Monks; sister, Viola Butler; and grandson, Shon Pilkington.
