Winford â€śSpudâ€ť Chandler, 73 of Poteau died Saturday, July 7, 2012, in Poteau.
Winford was born Sept. 27, 1938 in Poteau to W.S. and Ethel (Gassaway) Chandler.Â Winford was an outstanding athlete, even obtaining a full-ride baseball scholarship to Oklahoma State University. After graduating from OSU, Winford took his first job as a successful baseball and basketball coach for the Fort Leonard Wood-Waynesville School System. There he led the Tigers for the next eight years.
David Arnold Russell, 85, ofÂ Beckville, Texas,Â formerly of Poteau, died Friday, July 6, 2012, in Carthage, Texas.Â
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau.Â Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
Dovie M. Collins, 81, of Spiro died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at home.
Services were held Monday, July 9, at Shady Grove Baptist Church under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Thomas Lewis Lamb, 82, of Shady Point died Thursday, July 5, 2012, in Shady Point.Â Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau.Â Burial will be in Shady Point Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
Ola Loretta Couch, 90, of Bokoshe died Thursday, July 5, 2012, in Bokoshe.Â Ola was born April 7, 1922, in Newalla to William A. and Nora Jane (Whitlow) Bond.Â She was a homemaker. Ola was a member of the Church of Christ in Poteau and Bokoshe. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her daughters, Pat Irwin of Bokoshe, Cynthia Brody of Poteau; five grandchildren, Cathy, Lisa, Connie, Cynde, and James; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Lawson of Oklahoma City; other relatives and loved ones.Â
Terry Lee Treadway, 54, of Spiro died Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Mallory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Spiro.
Mason Alexander Cravens was born June 1, 2012, in Oklahoma City, and passed from this life on June 25 in Oklahoma City.
His time here was brief, butÂ the impact on those he leaves behind is great. He will forever be loved by his parents Chad and Jennifer (Neuharth) Cravens; his brother, Logan; his grandparents, Wayne and Joanne Neuharth of Poteau and Rex and Patty Cravens of Yukon; and many other family members and friends.

Barbara Gillson, 90, of Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Poteau died July 4, 2012, in Fort Smith.Â Barbara was born June 4, 1922, in Humiston, Iowa, to John and Pearl (Vaught) Scovel. She was a Hotel-Convention Sales Coordinator in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as being a homemaker.Â She and husband, Walter, moved to Poteau in 1977. Barbara was preceded in death by Walter.Â She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Poteau.Â

Tommy â€śTomâ€ť Wilson Jr., 86, of Okmulgee died Wednesday, July 4, 2012. He died peacefully surrounded by his family at the Senior Suites Nursing Home in Broken Arrow after complications from a stroke. He was born on March 28, 1926, near McCawber to Tom and Eva Wilson both now deceased. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ret. Lt. Col. Lloyd Wilson and sisters; Hazel Willingham and Dorothy Wilson.
Dr. Robert Lee Hampton was born on Jan. 16, 1930, to Roy and Winnifred (Sory) Hampton in Dallas. He grew up in Texas with two sisters, one brother, and one half-brother. When he was 14 years old, his mother died of tetanus and the family was devastated.Â However, they pulled together, accepted more responsibility, and remained loving and caring individuals.Â
