William E. Whitton, 56, of Howe died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
William was born June 6, 1955, in Sebastopol, Calif., to Robert Easco and H. Lorraine (Smith) Whitton.Â He was a recycling engineer.Â William would give you the shirt off his back.Â He helped many in the community.Â You could not help but love him.Â
Susan Jayne Waymire, 62, of Poteau died Jan. 23, 2012.Â She was born May 28, 1949, in Omaha, Neb., to Richard Crumbliss and Ava Jayne Turner.Â She was an accountant for nursing homes and a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church.Â Susan demonstrated her love for people in her community by being a volunteer of Samaritanâ€™s Kitchen.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Herman Boyd Hollingsworth, 70, of Poteau died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Herman was born March 20, 1941, in Simms, Texas, to Frank James and HattieÂ Mae (Obneskey) Hollingsworth.Â He was a U.S. Military Publication Officer. He was in the Army Reserves for eight years.Â He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lottie Insko, Ethel Malone; and brother, J.W. Hollingsworth.Â Â
Bernell (Nell) Graves, 86, of Livermore, Calif., passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2011, in Livermore with her daughters by her side. She was born in Bokoshe on Dec. 22, 1925, the third and youngest daughter of Ada Belle (Martin) and William Edward Mason. Her father owned Mason Feed and General Store, where she worked while attending school in Bokoshe. Her father sold the business in 1942 and the family moved to Poteau, where she finished high school.Â
William Haskell â€śSonnyâ€ť Reed Jr., 78 of Howe died Sunday, Jan. 22,Â 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.Â Sonny was born Sept. 18, 1933, in Monroe to William HaskellÂ and Beulah (Cain) Reed.Â Sonny was a rancher. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.Â He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Don Haskell.Â
Lee H. Zuck, 89, of Poteau died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, in Heavener.Â Lee was born May 4, 1922, in Florence, Kan., to Arthur M. and Bertha (Poland) Zuck.Â Lee was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a recipient of the Purple Heart.Â He was a retired Vocational Agriculture Teacher.Â Lee was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Belle Zuck; and grandson, Joshua Yandell.Â
Bonnie Marie King, 87, of Poteau died Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, in Poteau.Â Bonnie was born in Poteau on Dec. 22, 1924, to Claude and Nellie A. (Pendergrass) Johnson.Â She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Johnson; mother, Nellie Johnson and stepfather, Claude Oliver; husband, Henry â€śJ.R.â€ť King; and best friend, Mary Tiffee.Â
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Nancy King ofÂ Poteau; granddaughters, Jamie Rowland, Emilee King and Natalee King all of Poteau; and two great-grandsons; Jaxon King and Gavin Rowland.
Zerilda J. McCaughey, 71, of Poteau died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.Â Zerilda was born July 11, 1940, in Monticello, Mo., to Emmett Hayden and Clara May (Porter) Crain.Â She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl McCaughey; daughter, Tina L. Murray; nine brothers and sisters.Â
Survivors include her stepdaughter, Deana Kay Cottle of Kingman, Ariz;.Â four grandsons, Sam Murray, Patrick Murray, Brock Cottle, Garrett Cottle; two granddaughters, Fawn Higgins, Chesnee Cottle; brother, Lloyd CrainÂ and five great-grandchildren.Â
Luther A. Parham, after 87 years of full life, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 22, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Evans-Miller Funeral Home in Pocola.
Luther and his wife Bonita were married for 69 years and raisedÂ 12 children in Poteau. They owned and operated Parham Fruit Stand while supporting the family. They moved to Fort Smith, where he worked at Rheem Manufacturing until he retired. Â
Luther was a proud man, hard worker and dedicated father and husband.Â Â
Lessie Mae McKinney Dell, 84, Spiro, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 24, at Old Cache Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro.
