November 13th
Carol Gean Evans, 66, of Spiro died Thursday, Nov. 8. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 10, at Victory Worship. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.
Shirley Ann Stewart, 79, of Spiro died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. Private family services are planned. An online guest book is available at www.mallorymartinfuneralhome.com.
Velma J. (Rush) Grigsby, 87, of Tishomingo died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at her home. Services were held Monday, Nov. 12, at Westside Church of Christ in Tishomingo. Burial was in Wilson Cemetery at Clarita under the direction of Clark Funeral Service, Tishomingo.
Joe Edwin Bottoms, 75, of Heavener died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, in Heavener. Services were held Monday, Nov. 12, at Lovings Baptist Church. Burial was in Loving Cemetery in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home.
Annie Bell (King) Ashby, 91, of Octavia died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Annie was born June 1, 1921, to Albert and Sarah (Newman) King in Waldron, Ark.
She married Neal Ashby on March 20, 1949. Annie and Neal lived in several different places, from Oklahoma to Alaska to Montana.
Annie was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening and fishing. She was a member of the Smithville Assembly of God.
November 7th
Stephen James Simmons, 28, of Heavener died Monday, Nov. 5., 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at House of Hope in Poteau. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Heavener.
Bill Ellman, 87, of Poteau died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, in Fort Smith, Ark.
He was a former newspaper owner, publisher and editor. Bill was raised in the Lutheran faith but joined First Christian Church, Poteau, when he and his wife retired. Bill was born in Preston, Md., on Nov. 28, 1924, to William H. Sr. and Marie Schulke Ellman.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Tucker Davis; his first wife, Elizabeth “Lib” Boylston Ellman; and two sisters, Betty Ellman and Thedora “Ted” Browne.
Dorothy Louise Dailey, 74, of Spiro, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012. Private family services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home.

Ronald H. Sheetz, 75, of Spiro died Saturday Nov. 3, 2012. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Spiro. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Frances Anne Cranfield, 70, of Heavener died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in Poteau. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forrester Baptist Church in Heavener. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home.
