Archie Dave Deere

Archie Dave Deere, 58, of the Reichert community died Wednesday, Sept. 4, in Fort Smith, Ark. Archie was born May 11, 1955, in Poteau to Archie and Pat Deere. He was a 1973 graduate of Heavener High School and a members of Pilgrim’s Rest Church. Archie loved his family, his home and God’s creatures that he cared for around his home. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Mary Deere; maternal grandparents, Dave and Neoma Moody; brother-in-law, Phil Gardenhire; and two cousins, Tony Plumlee and Joe Wiles.

Cecil Brannon Hardin

Cecil Brannon Hardin, born March 21, 1918, in Shady Point to Oscar and Maud Brannon died Sept. 1, 2013, at Baptist Village Evergreen Care Center in Owasso. She was 95.
Cecil went to school at Knothole and Shady Point where she enjoyed playing basketball. On Jan. 2, 1935 she eloped with her school sweetheart, Jesse W. Hardin. They raised three children and celebrated 69 years together until his death in July 2004.

Mary Elizabeth Thompson Bunch

Mary Elizabeth Thompson Bunch, 98, of Keota died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013.     
Mary was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Dewar to Mary Marlow Thompson and William Franklin Thompson.
Mary ran a small bus station and grocery store in Keota for six years and was the secretary at Beller Mount Church for 38 years.  She was always busy and never slowed down when she was working for the church. 
Mary also sold Avon in the community, so she knew a lot of people. She was well known and will be greatly missed by all.

Dennis Albert Wells

Dennis Albert Wells, 64, of Wister died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at the Talihina Veteran’s Center. Dennis was born Dec. 2, 1949, in Elyria, Ohio, to Wade D. and Thelma (Davis) Wells. 
Dennis, Lance Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps, was a Vietnam veteran and proud of his service to his country. He was a mechanic in California before relocating to Oklahoma where he, alongside his father, successfully ranched for many years. Dennis was a lover of libraries, knowledge and learning and a caring and compassionate man. He was devoted to God and is now once again cradled in his arms.

LaFaye Qualls

LaFaye Qualls, 85, of Poteau died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, in Oklahoma City. LaFaye was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Shady Point to Hershel and Blanche Ruby (Williams) Christenberry. She owned and operated the Merle Norman studio and LaFaye’s Beauty Shop until her retirement.
