On July 6, 2013, the Kidd family lost their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and inspiration.
Martha Lewis Kidd was born June 14, 1915, in Fort Smith, Ark, to Nanie Belle Southard Lewis and Herschel V. Lewis. She grew up in Poteau and Tulsa and graduated from high school in Oklahoma City in 1933. In September 1941, she married James P. Kidd in Los Angeles. The couple celebrated almost 69 years of marriage until Jimâ€™s death in 2010.
Jerrie Conner, 69, of Poteau died July 3, 2013, in Tulsa. She was born Sept. 20, 1943, in Talihina to Virgil and Gladys Johnson Sealy. She was a retired registered nurse for St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was a member of Harvest Time Tabernacle and the Golden Harvesters and was very passionate about Mission work of the church.
Lula Beatrice Cagle, 89, of Waldron, Ark., died Thursday, July 4, 2013. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 8, in the Dowden Funeral Home chapel in Heavener. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Heavener.
Bill J. Gibbens, 71, of Heavener died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Heavener. He was born Sept. 2, 1941, at Baxter Springs, Kan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a poultry farmer.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Betty and Paul Harris.
Geraldine Lucille Cain, 86, of Heavener died Thursday, July 4 at Heavener. No service is planned at this time. Burial will be in Zion Memorial Park Cemetery, Canby, Ore.
Brooklyn Leann Chance, 9 of Spiro died Monday, July 1, 2013. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6 in the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home chapel.
Johnnie Joe Dorey, 95, of Poteau died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Poteau. Johnnie was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Poteau to Otha and Emma (White) Johnson. She was a homemaker. Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Wilferd â€śBusterâ€ť Dorey Jr.; her parents; six sisters, Grace Marler, Elenor Dorey, Elise Welch, Emma Jean Hanley, Syble Neff, Billie Dean Stock; and brothers, Bud Johnson and Tommy Allen Johnson. Johnnie was the oldest senior member of Pleasant Valley Free Will Baptist Church. She was a preacherâ€™s wife for more than 30 years. Johnnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother.
Sam Hutchison, 88, of Poteau died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in Talihina. Wilmer Samuel Hutchison was born Jan. 8, 1925, in Cameron to Wilmer and Abby (Carpenter) Hutchison. Sam was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a mechanic. Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Leona Hutchison; his parents; brothers, William â€śLandis,â€ť Bobby and Vernon Hutchison; and sister, Laura Gaither.
Tru Victor Harding went to be with his savior on June 18, 2013. He was born March 5, 1998, in Davis, Calif.
He is survived by his sister, Taylor Nâ€™Cole Harding; brother, Treâ€™ Danel Harding; father, the Rev. Harry Louis â€śLouâ€ť Harding Jr.; and mother, Jacqueline â€śPaigeâ€ť Muse-Harding of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandfather, Jay W. â€śPaPaâ€ť Muse; grandmother Ruby Nell â€śMeMawâ€ť Muse of Heavener; and many aunts, uncles and friends. Tru will be truly missed until we see him at the Throne of God.
The Rev. James Mabry, formerly of Fairview, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He was 89.
James was born April 1, 1924, to Florence and Eric Emory Mabry in Hughes. He served in World War II as a merchant seaman.Â
James met and married his soul mate, Yoshiko Kanashiro on March 19, 1953, in Yokohama, Japan.
