Nadjamae Steel, 92, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Poteau died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, in Oklahoma City.
Nadjamae was born June 4, 1922, in Vernon to Oscar Elden and Ethel Ann (Nation) Sturgell. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William â€śBillâ€ť Ward Miller and William â€śBillâ€ť A. Steel; six siblings, Houston, Dale, Eldon and Richard Sturgell, Ruby Stufflebean and Edna Sturgell.Â
Mary Ward, 94, widow of Charles Ward (formerly of Poteau) has passed away. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Boston Avenue Methodist Church in Tulsa.
Frances â€śJeanâ€ť Edge, 91, of Heavener died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Heavener Memorial Park. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mary D. Martin, 98, of Wister died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, in Poteau. Mary was born Jan. 20, 1916, in Monroe to Marion and Myra Ottie (Collum) Dunn. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, B.C. â€śBabeâ€ť Martin.
Ernestine Hunkapillar, 96, of Talihina died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at First United Methodist Church with Don Baker officiating.Â Burial will be in A.L. Stephens Cemetery, Clayton, under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service, Talihina.
Leonard Dewayne â€śLenâ€ť Dehart, 65, of Hontubby died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Heavener. Burial will be in Hontubby Cemetery
Linda Diane Dudley, 65, of Heavener died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, in Fort Smith, Ark.
No services are planned. Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Betty Jean Claunts, 81, of Cameron died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, in Cameron.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with burial in Oakland Cemetery.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
Maureen May, 91, of the Haw Creek community died Sept. 7, 2014, in Poteau.
Maureen was born April 20, 1923, in Page to James and Mary (Jackson) Brown.Â
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Junior May; two sisters, Mozelle Johnson and Bonnie Gillham; and one brother, J.T. Brown; and a, granddaughter, Stephanie May. She was raised and lived in the Haw Creek Community all of her life and was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church. Maureenâ€™s life was dedicated to her family and church. She loved spending time with her children, gardening and quilting.
Florence Mozelle Plummer, 89, of Poteau died Monday, Sept. 08, 2014 in Poteau.
Mozelle was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Memphis, Texas, to O.W. â€śBootsâ€ť and Lois (White) Wise. She was owner-operator of Busterâ€™s Buffet.Â
